Two Persons Killed and a Laguna Councilor Hurt in Alaminos Ambush

On Monday evening (August 5, 2013), a Laguna councilor and his three companions were ambushed in the town of Alaminos in Laguna. They were reportedly traveling along Del Pilar Street when their car was attacked about 10:45 in the evening. The suspects (their numbers still unknown) were aboard a motorcycle and another car. They reportedly sandwiched the victims' car then sprayed it with bullets.

Sonny Briz, the driver of the car, died on the spot while his cousin James Briz died when he was taken to a nearby hospital. Lino Zuniga, an Alaminos councilor was wounded, suffering gunshot wounds on his leg and arm. Nelson Briz, another companion was also wounded. 

The councilor and his entourage were on their way home from a derby fight when they were attacked. Investigation is still ongoing as to the perpetrators of the attack and their motives.
